JobsSenior GPU Propagation Engine Engineer
Job description
The role is for a senior engineer on NVIDIA's Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin team, focusing on designing and implementing a real-time, GPU-accelerated propagation engine for predicting radio signal behavior in 3D environments. This position is critical for developing foundational technology for 5G and 6G network simulation. The engineer will work with advanced GPU and ray-tracing platforms to produce channel characterizations and radio maps. The role involves addressing technical challenges related to real-time ray tracing and multi-GPU scaling.
Requirements
- PhD in computer graphics, high-performance computing, computational electromagnetics, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on proficiency with CUDA and at least one GPU ray-tracing framework such as OptiX, Vulkan RT, or Embree.
- Proficiency in GPU-friendly spatial data structures and understanding of memory hierarchy and compute-vs-bandwidth trade-offs.
- Working knowledge of electromagnetic wave propagation phenomena sufficient to implement and validate a propagation engine.
- Impactful publications in GPU ray tracing, real-time rendering, or deterministic propagation modelling.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement a GPU ray-tracing engine that operates at both planning and real-time scales.
- Produce volumetric radio maps for network operators to design and optimize deployments.
- Deliver per-link multipath channel updates at a millisecond cadence for production RAN stacks.
- Develop algorithms, data structures, and multi-GPU scaling strategies for sub-millisecond propagation updates.
Benefits
- Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
