Job description
NVIDIA is seeking a passionate mechanical optical engineer to join the Advanced Technology Group. This role focuses on micro-optical component design for NVIDIA's products, requiring a strong background in precision mechanical components and advanced manufacturing. The engineer will work on complex problems, providing creative solutions that contribute to product differentiation. Collaboration with multi-functional teams and vendors is essential to define optical packaging requirements and ensure product performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related fields or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience.
- Knowledge in micro-optic design and optical termination standards.
- Basic photonic device knowledge.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Background of mechanical simulation software like Ansys or Abacus.
- Working knowledge of optical simulation software like Lumerical and Zemax.
Responsibilities
- Define mechanical-optical design rules using simulation software.
- Discuss with vendors to set DOE plans and data acquisition.
- Run optical test systems to determine product performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis and debugging of unique failures.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams within NVIDIA to define optical packaging requirements.
