Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a highly motivated engineer to lead performance benchmarking and optimization for their data center products. The role involves working within a diverse team focused on delivering industry-leading performance for accelerated computing workloads. You will engage with various teams to resolve performance issues and drive improvements through system tuning and architectural recommendations. This position is integral to ensuring the effectiveness of NVIDIA's rapidly expanding ecosystem of data center platforms.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in performance engineering or system architecture.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture and hardware-software interaction.
  • Strong proficiency in performance profiling tools such as Linux perf and NVIDIA Nsight Systems.
  • Familiarity with GPU computing and parallel programming using CUDA.
  • Background with HPC networking technologies including InfiniBand, RoCE, and NVLink.
  • Programming skills in Python, C++, and shell scripting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with cross-functional global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute comprehensive performance benchmarking strategies for data center platforms and products.
  • Characterize real-world AI training, inference, and HPC workloads at scale.
  • Define, track, and report key performance indicators such as throughput, latency, efficiency, and scaling.
  • Build automation tools and frameworks for performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Identify and analyze performance bottlenecks across compute, memory, network, and storage subsystems.
  • Work closely with architecture, hardware, software, networking, storage, and customer teams to resolve performance issues.
  • Drive performance improvements through system tuning, configuration optimization, and architectural recommendations for future generation systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
