Job description

The Senior AI Frameworks Engineer role at NVIDIA focuses on contributing to the CUTLASS project, which aims to enhance high-performance computing platforms for AI applications. The team is dedicated to bridging low-level hardware primitives with high-level developer productivity, particularly through the development of Pythonic CUTLASS. Candidates will leverage their expertise in systems programming and API design to create a seamless developer experience for GPU programming. This position is ideal for those passionate about building high-performance domain-specific languages (DSLs) for AI researchers and engineers.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and C++, particularly in designing Python extensions and foreign function interfaces (FFI).
  • Experience in library or framework development, focusing on creating intuitive APIs for complex technical systems.
  • Deep understanding of the Python ecosystem’s delivery stack, including building, testing, and distributing high-performance compiled extensions.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a core member of the CUTLASS project to enhance GPU programming and kernel delivery.
  • Design APIs that prioritize user productivity and provide a native feel for developers in scientific computing and deep learning.
  • Develop robust compilation infrastructure to transform Pythonic descriptions into high-performance GPU machine code.
  • Optimize the developer experience by creating debugging tools, profiler integrations, and validation methodologies.
  • Build production-grade delivery infrastructure for the open-source community, managing package distribution and user-facing documentation.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
