Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join its AI Developer Tools organization, focusing on building AI coding agents and models for CUDA developers. The team operates in a fast-paced environment, emphasizing both experimentation and shipping products. This role involves significant collaboration with product teams to turn research into practical features. Candidates will work on cutting-edge AI tools that enhance the coding experience for developers.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience, with an M.S. or Ph.D. being a plus.
  • 12+ years of industry experience in applied AI/ML, particularly in the AI-for-code space.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and sound software engineering practices.
  • Hands-on experience fine-tuning or evaluating LLMs.
  • Fluency with the systems side of LLM-powered agents.
  • Experience designing or contributing to rigorous evaluations for code generation or agentic systems.
  • A track record of shipping products to real users.
  • Comfortable in a small, collaborative, in-person team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve novel coding agents that assist NVIDIA developers with CUDA code.
  • Design and ship evaluations that measure key aspects of AI-powered CUDA development.
  • Fine-tune and specialize code LLMs in collaboration with the Nemotron team.
  • Develop Agent Skills and MCP servers to enhance NVIDIA's developer tools for AI agents.
  • Generate, curate, and validate synthetic training and evaluation data for CUDA programming.
  • Deliver new knowledge to frontier LLMs through RAG and skill-based systems.
  • Collaborate with product teams to turn research prototypes into shipping features.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
