Job description

NVIDIA is seeking an experienced ASIC engineer to join the Clocks team, which is responsible for designing GPU and CPU clocking systems. The role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure that clocking requirements meet functional, physical, and testing design standards. The engineer will focus on improving power, performance, and area (PPA) of NVIDIA chips while innovating new clocking topologies. This position offers the opportunity to engage in the entire ASIC execution cycle, from design implementation to silicon bring-up.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, with MS preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Deep understanding of logic optimization techniques and PPA trade-offs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
  • Experience in RTL design (Verilog), verification, and logic synthesis.
  • Strong coding skills in Python or other industry-standard scripting languages.
  • Understanding of sub-micron silicon issues like noise, cross-talk, and OCV effects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the clock domain to satisfy functional, physical, and testing design requirements.
  • Engage with multiple teams to design GPU or CPU clocks that meet architectural, design, and physical constraints.
  • Evaluate trade-offs across DFx, Physical Implementation, Power Optimization, and timing closure to improve PPA of NVIDIA chips.
  • Collaborate with the Physical design and timing team to address clocking concerns and develop high-speed clocking solutions.
  • Deliver clock RTL information to GPU, CPU, and SOC verification teams, as well as timing and DFT teams.
  • Participate in the end-to-end cycle of ASIC execution, from micro-architecture to silicon bring-up.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
