The Backend Compiler Engineer role at NVIDIA focuses on enhancing the GPU compiler backend to achieve high-performance machine instructions for graphics and compute applications. The Compiler team is composed of leading experts in compiler engineering, working on advanced technologies for NVIDIA's parallel SIMT architectures. This position involves collaboration with global teams to improve compiler performance and resolve issues. Candidates should be passionate about deep-learning compiler technology and possess strong programming skills.

Requirements

  • B.S./M.S./PhD. or equivalent experience, with MS/PhD highly desired.
  • Compiler code generation experience, preferably with LLVM.
  • Proficient hands-on C++ programming skills.
  • Strong background in software engineering principles focused on robust and maintainable solutions.
  • Good communication and documentation skills, and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, modify, and improve an NVIDIA proprietary GPU compiler backend written in C++.
  • Develop new register allocation compiler passes and optimizations.
  • Work with global compiler, hardware, and application teams to oversee improvements and problem resolutions.
  • Contribute to deep-learning compiler technology spanning architecture design and support through functional languages.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
