Job description

Intel is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer specializing in Physical Design to drive physical design implementation for custom IP and SoC designs. This role involves shaping the future of Intel's products through innovative methodologies and technical leadership. The engineer will mentor emerging talent and influence Intel's technical direction while optimizing design parameters for high-performance solutions. Join a dynamic team committed to creating world-changing technology that enriches lives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or BS degree in a specialized field and 12+ years of experience, or Master's degree and 8+ years of experience, or PhD and 6+ years of experience in physical design and related disciplines.
  • Expertise in physical design methodologies, tools, and flows, including synthesis, place and route, clock tree synthesis, static timing analysis, and floor planning.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard EDA tools and techniques for physical design implementation and verification.
  • Strong technical background in static and dynamic power integrity, reliability verification, and electrical rule checking.
  • Extensive experience optimizing designs for power, frequency, and area in advanced semiconductor processes.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex design challenges through disciplined execution.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of physical design implementation, including synthesis, place and route, clock tree synthesis, floor planning, static timing analysis, power and noise analysis, and reliability verification.
  • Conduct verification and signoff activities, such as formal equivalence verification, static timing analysis, layout verification, electrical rule checking, structural design checking, and static/dynamic power integrity analysis.
  • Analyze results to address violations and make recommendations for current and future product architectures.
  • Develop and optimize physical design methodologies and flow automation to improve key product-level metrics such as power, frequency, and area.
  • Demonstrate expertise in structural and physical design techniques, including physical clock design, timing closure, coverage analysis, multiple power domain analysis, placing, routing, synthesis, and DFT using industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Collaborate across teams to drive design innovations and deliver high-quality outcomes through disciplined execution.
  • Act as a mentor to technical leaders, foster community growth, and role model Intel values.
  • Formulate technical strategy aligned with organizational goals and relentlessly execute to bring products and technologies to market.
  • Influence technical direction across Intel and the broader industry by driving innovation and best practices.

Benefits

  • Intel offers a comprehensive benefits package including competitive pay, stock programs, healthcare coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, parental leave, and programs supporting employee wellbeing and professional development.
