Job description

Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate in its Market Risk Analytics department, focusing on the Credit asset class. The role involves developing, maintaining, and monitoring market risk models, including VaR and stress testing models, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The candidate will engage in quantitative analysis and model enhancements while collaborating with various stakeholders. This position offers an opportunity to work on all aspects of a model's lifecycle, from development to performance monitoring.

Requirements

  • Requires a degree in Quantitative Finance, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Economics or a related field of study, with a Masters or PhD highly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative skills are essential.
  • Strong Python coding skills are required, along with knowledge of database querying functionalities or languages.
  • Familiarity with statistical modeling, Monte Carlo, and Historical Simulation is necessary.
  • Knowledge of financial products with Credit factors is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience working in a quantitative discipline is required.
  • Broad interest in financial products, markets, risk management, and regulations is necessary.
  • Strong skills in communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative analysis on various aspects of Market Risk models like VaR, Stressed VaR, and Risk Not in VaR for Credit products.
  • Develop and enhance models for changing internal risk management needs and new regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in code development for model implementation and performance monitoring.
  • Analyze and explain changes in risk metrics driven by model updates and position changes.
  • Analyze model performance metrics.
  • Interact with stakeholders from various departments including Front Office strategists and Market Risk Managers.
  • Participate in documentation of model methodologies and implementation.
  • Respond to queries from Model Risk Management, Internal Audit, and regulators.
