Job description

The EDA Tools Software Engineer will join the Design Technology Platform team at Intel, focusing on developing software tools and methodologies that enhance semiconductor design and manufacturing processes. This role is crucial for enabling design teams to innovate efficiently while meeting complex manufacturability requirements. The engineer will work closely with various stakeholders, including process developers and EDA vendors, to ensure optimal solutions are implemented. This position directly contributes to maintaining Intel's technological leadership in the semiconductor industry.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field with 8+ years of experience, or a Ph.D. in the same fields with 5+ years of experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Perl for automation or testing in Unix/Linux environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with EDA tools, including Calibre, ICV, or Pegasus, and skills in developing rule decks.
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor device physics and/or process technology, and design rules.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and debug software tools and methodologies for process design and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with process developers, design rule owners, and end users to define technology specifications and requirements.
  • Automate workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and deployment across teams.
  • Build and execute test cases to validate software tools, ensuring seamless integration with design methodologies.
  • Engage with internal partners and external EDA vendors to coordinate tool feature requirements and specifications.
  • Assess and isolate performance contributors for technology features as part of enablement.
  • Identify and analyze problems, plans, tasks, and solutions.
