Job description
The Facilities Mechanical and Controls Engineer in Santa Clara, California, will act as the Technical Subject Matter Expert, ensuring the reliability and safety of mechanical, HVAC, and control systems in critical environments. This role involves mentoring other engineers and managing the performance of equipment through collaboration with Integrated Facilities Management partners and external vendors. The engineer will focus on system availability, safety standards, and compliance while leading project development and strategic planning initiatives. The position requires a strong technical background and a commitment to high operational standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience in large-scale manufacturing, commercial, or mechanical engineering facilities
- 5+ years of field experience with mechanical systems such as HVAC, fans, boilers, chillers, pumps, piping, valves, and control systems
Responsibilities
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and maintenance of mechanical and HVAC systems critical to supporting data centers and labs.
- Support daily efforts to achieve safety, reliability, and environmental compliance objectives for all facilities' mechanical systems.
- Design and analyze mechanical systems and equipment, troubleshooting systemic issues and providing solutions.
- Develop engineering scopes of work for mechanical projects and conduct feasibility studies.
- Oversee industrial instrumentation and automation systems for maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis to address equipment issues and manage long-term improvement initiatives.
- Act as a partner to business units, providing engineering solutions for equipment and systems.
- Develop and execute a systems roadmap and asset replacement strategy for facility expansions.
- Guide and mentor other engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration.
