Job description

The Senior Software Engineer role in the Frontend Developer Experience team at Salesforce focuses on enhancing the frontend development cycle for Slack. This position aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of the frontend toolchain, enabling developers to work more productively. The team is dedicated to creating a seamless development environment that minimizes friction and maximizes performance. Candidates will be involved in mentoring other engineers and contributing to high-quality software development practices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience writing JavaScript or TypeScript
  • 5+ years experience with configuring and optimizing modern frontend toolchains and build tools
  • 5+ years experience building and debugging complex systems in a team environment
  • 5+ years experience with CI/CD tools
  • 3+ years experience with tsc and/or tsgo
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience
  • Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and empathy
  • Self-motivation and the ability to take initiative independently, learn quickly, and meet deadlines
  • A demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to engineering
  • Experience using AI tools in development workflows
  • Advanced prompt engineering skills

Responsibilities

  • Speed up the frontend development cycle by making Slack's frontend builds faster and more performant
  • Brainstorm novel solutions to challenging problems to simplify engineers' lives
  • Collaborate with team members and others to implement solutions
  • Trace, measure, and improve the performance characteristics of internal systems
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes across the Slack organization
  • Identify gaps and challenges, explore potential solutions, and build a roadmap for frontend tooling
  • Mentor other engineers and conduct deep code reviews
  • Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices
  • Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a shared system context for accurate and reliable AI operations
