Job description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will work within the Mechanical Department of KLA's ECI division in Totowa, NJ, focusing on the design process of mechanical components for new systems. This role involves utilizing CAD systems for both conceptual and detailed design, as well as sustaining engineering projects. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure the integration of mechanical, fluidic, and optical assemblies. The position emphasizes innovation and precision in the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of mechanical design experience in electro-mechanical products or industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and drawing creation, including assemblies and configuration management.
  • Ability to create and read system schematics and flow diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of fluidic component selection and integration.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs) and supporting documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical parts of new systems using CAD systems.
  • Independently execute sustaining engineering projects by creating and updating 3D CAD models.
  • Develop flow diagrams and system schematics based on customer requirements.
  • Design and integrate mechanical, fluidic, and optical assemblies.
  • Create and maintain bills of material to support manufacturing and service.
  • Prepare documentation packages for release in accordance with internal standards.
  • Adapt designs for different chemistries and varying tank counts.
  • Define facility requirements for system layouts based on customer site requirements.
  • Create and process Engineering Change Orders to release new or revised parts.
  • Support prototype builds and troubleshooting by performing fit checks and root-cause investigations.
