Job description
Apple's System Firmware and Diagnostics team is seeking an embedded firmware engineer to design, develop, and debug firmware for manufacturing and testing processes of Apple products. This individual contributor role involves working closely with experts to integrate technologies into system firmware for factory lines. The position encourages innovation, collaboration, and autonomy. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on complex embedded devices that are essential to Apple's groundbreaking products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
- Background in embedded firmware development in multi-threaded systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both peer and management audiences.
- Proficiency in interpreting and navigating schematics and layouts.
- Working knowledge of standard hardware protocols such as USB, UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe, MIPI, and PCM.
- Hands-on experience in using debugging tools such as gdb, lldb, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Well-versed in board bring-up and new product development.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement manufacturing systems firmware for embedded devices.
- Design and develop firmware used in the manufacturing and testing process.
- Debug firmware to ensure functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with team members to integrate core technologies and algorithms into system firmware.
