Job description
This role is focused on building foundational AI infrastructure at KLA, bridging the gap between the AI engineering team and business units. Based in Ann Arbor, the position involves identifying deployable AI capabilities and enhancing the internal AI platform. The role emphasizes product quality and reliability while fostering organizational learning and scalability. It requires a strong technical background in AI systems and infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred
- 3+ years of experience building and operating ML/AI systems in production
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks
- Hands-on experience with inference optimization and model serving infrastructure
- Experience building internal tools or platform infrastructure
- Experience designing plugin architectures or extensible platform components
- Strong understanding of data governance and security
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance AI products and tools for the business, ensuring product quality and reliability
- Deploy AI capabilities into KLA's teams, acting as the bridge between R&D and production use
- Own the internal AI infrastructure to facilitate organizational learning and scalability
- Architect and maintain reusable infrastructure for AI systems
- Design and build persistent context and memory systems for AI environments
- Build skill and plugin distribution systems to enhance AI product capabilities
- Design and operate on-prem inference infrastructure for sensitive data deployments
- Fine-tune or adapt foundation models on proprietary data for capability uplift
- Build CI/CD pipelines for agents, including testing and versioning
- Set technical standards and mentor junior engineers while leading design reviews
