Job description

The Senior Research Scientist in Farm Animal Clinical Development at Elanco will play a crucial role in advancing innovative vaccines and therapeutics for farm animals. This position involves conducting and coordinating global clinical programs that contribute to the health of animals. The scientist will work closely with the Clinical Team Lead and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The role emphasizes the importance of quality assurance and regulatory compliance in clinical program activities.

Requirements

  • A DVM or Ph.D. in Animal Science or a related field is preferred; an M.S. with extensive experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in vaccine product development, infectious disease research or a closely related field.
  • Proven ability to design, execute, and report on clinical studies in compliance with GCP and GLP standards.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple complex projects and studies simultaneously with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and implement high-quality clinical studies for new farm animal vaccines and therapeutics.
  • Author and design key study documentation, including clinical development plans, protocols, and final reports in compliance with US and global regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret study results for submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as a key clinical representative in interactions with regulatory authorities and external research partners.
  • Ensure all clinical program activities maintain the highest level of quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

Benefits

  • Employees at Elanco are often offered competitive compensation with annual bonus and equity eligibility, retirement plans (including a U.S. 401(k)), and comprehensive health coverage—medical, dental, vision, company-paid life and disability—and even pet insurance. Time-off and flexibility typically include generous PTO, U.S. mid-year and year-end paid shutdown weeks, parental leave, and flexible/remote work options. Employees also benefit from strong development programs (onboarding, course libraries, mentorship, nine ERGs, and tiered leadership programs) that support both professional growth and community involvement.
