Job description

The Manufacturing Automation Engineer at Elanco will support the design, operation, control, and optimization of manufacturing processes at the Elwood, Kansas facility. This role focuses on developing process and equipment expertise while contributing to data analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will also help build local engineering systems aligned with Elanco's operational standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP requirements and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end process engineering support for capital projects.
  • Develop and execute process design tools such as mass and energy balances.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for process engineering within capital project teams.
  • Create, review, and maintain key technical documentation.
  • Provide on-floor manufacturing support for troubleshooting and deviation management.
  • Analyze process and equipment data to identify performance gaps.
  • Lead or support HAZOPs, process safety reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Support development of the Process Engineering function.
