The System Design Engineer role at KLA focuses on leading the development and testing of next-generation hardware features. This hands-on position requires collaboration across teams to bring complex systems to life, from concept to execution. Although there is no current opening, KLA is building a talent community for future opportunities. Candidates will be expected to apply their expertise in electron optics and systems engineering to optimize performance and troubleshoot issues.
Requirements
- Strong background in Systems Engineering.
- Expertise in Electron Optics.
- Experience with Ultra-High Vacuum systems is preferred.
- Hands-on experience developing and testing hardware systems.
- Strong analytical and scripting skills for data analysis.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Self-driven with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Doctorate degree with no experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of new hardware features and subsystems.
- Define system-level requirements and contribute to specifications and interface definitions.
- Apply electron optics expertise to optimize system performance.
- Develop and execute test plans for system characterization.
- Design and run experiments; write scripts for data collection and analysis.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues across software, electronics, mechanics, and optics.
- Use structured problem-solving methods to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and service teams to implement solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and align teams toward program goals.
- Present technical findings to leadership and global stakeholders.
