Job description
The ASE Observability team at Apple is focused on building and operating core observability platforms that enhance monitoring, debugging, and optimization of infrastructure and systems. This role involves developing solutions that provide visibility into application performance and operational metrics. The team is on a journey to create a next-generation observability platform with capabilities like Distributed Tracing and Logging. Candidates should be passionate about software as a service and eager to contribute to impactful projects.
Requirements
- 10 to 15 years of industry experience in building and maintaining backend distributed systems.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and supporting highly scalable infrastructure services.
- Deep understanding of core computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, and concurrent programming.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities.
- Passion for developing and testing clear, robust code.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies and frameworks.
- Great communication skills.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and OSS tools in the Observability space.
- Proficient in one of Java or Rust.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes on Linux is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Gather requirements across cross-functional teams.
- Develop practical, fault-tolerant high-performance distributed systems.
- Lead and participate in technical design discussions across cross-functional teams.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the observability domain and generate creative ideas.
- Conduct independent research in the field of work.
- Mentor other engineers in the team.
- Challenge the status quo and focus on details and end-user experience.
- Contribute ideas to move faster, be more creative, and empower developers.
