Job description

The Software Engineer role on the Search & AI Platform team focuses on building the next generation of storage and computation fabric that supports innovative services like Bing and Copilot. The team works with both in-house and open-source technologies in a massively scaled and distributed system. Developers are expected to follow a data-driven and test-driven methodology while collaborating with various stakeholders. This position offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge cloud and machine learning technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience building distributed cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to quantitatively evaluate, implement and verify a solution in a distributed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
  • Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
  • Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in a DevOps model and guides other engineers.
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve product performance.
