Job description
Rivian is seeking a leader for their cell development team, focusing on the design and production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. Requirements
- MS degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science with 5+ years of experience in hands-on testing of lithium-ion batteries.
- 3+ years of management experience with a strong record of leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in characterizing lithium-ion cells and/or cell development.
- Strong understanding of electrochemical properties of lithium-ion batteries and their components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and communication abilities.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a world-class cell development team.
- Develop strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Create a technical roadmap and cell strategy for Rivian's products.
- Lead cross-functional teams to decompose requirements from vehicle and pack to cell specifications.
- Develop strategic relationships with cell vendors and lead technical evaluations for new cells or suppliers.
- Oversee cell development from design concept to mass production.
- Design test methods to validate and characterize cell components and performance.
- Coordinate resources for internal and external testing.
- Work with pack design teams to optimize cell performance and safety.
- Identify cell degradation mechanisms and propose solutions to mitigate risks.
