Job description
The Si photonics & optical Packaging Engineer will focus on developing high-efficiency optical I/O module architecture and packaging solutions for silicon photonics technology. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to lead the optical engine module and co-packaging optics development efforts. The engineer will be responsible for defining assembly processes and optimizing optical coupling designs for performance and cost. The position requires strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with vendors and internal teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics (Optics major), Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field is preferred.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong theoretical background in optics and photonics fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience in packaging and measuring fiber-coupled devices.
- Hands-on experience in optical component design, simulation, and qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the related field with an M.S. or Ph.D.
- Hands-on experience with CMOS BEOL wafer scale processing and flip chip assembly.
Responsibilities
- Lead Si photonics packaging technology development.
- Work with cross-functional teams to drive optical engine module and optical coupling design efforts.
- Establish optical coupling design and manufacturing processes optimized for performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with optical component vendors and foundries to bring packaging solutions from concept to high-volume manufacturing.
- Define assembly baseline processes and package BOM.
