Job description

As a Software Development Engineer at AWS, you will drive innovation in network management by developing software that enhances the reliability and availability of AWS networks. You will work alongside a diverse team of engineers and specialists to create adaptive solutions that meet operational and business goals. The role focuses on building large-scale distributed software systems while leveraging big data technologies and analytics. You will contribute to the design and scaling of services that provide authoritative data for the Amazon Network.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Develop software to manage AWS networks effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with teammates and surrounding teams to achieve operational and business goals.
  • Design and scale services for building authoritative data services for the Amazon Network.
  • Work on challenges related to network management and automation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of network reliability and fault tolerance.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
