The ASIC Physical Design Engineer will be part of the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team at Annapurna Labs, focusing on the design and optimization of hardware for AWS data centers. This role involves working on custom chips and accelerators that drive machine learning inference and training. The engineer will ensure high design quality while navigating the complexities of advanced technology nodes. Collaboration with various teams and mentoring junior engineers will also be key aspects of this position.

• BS + 10 years or MS + 7 years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in physical verification for advanced technology nodes
• Expert knowledge of industry-standard physical verification tools such as Calibre and IC Validator
• Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and design rules
• Experience with integration and verification in advanced nodes of 5nm or below
• Knowledge of custom and digital design flows
• Expertise in reliability verification including ESD, EM, and IR drop

• Drive full chip floorplan, placement, integration, PV signoff, and tapeout
• Collaborate with the front-end team to understand RTL and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle
• Define, execute, and optimize next-generation physical verification and integration methodologies using industry-standard EDA tools
• Perform DRC, LVS, and PERC verification
• Debug and resolve physical verification issues in collaboration with layout and design teams
• Interface with foundries for MT form, rule deck updates, and violation waivers
• Develop and maintain verification runsets and methodologies
• Mentor junior engineers on physical verification methodologies and closure
• Experience scripting with Python, Perl, Bash, or PowerShell
