Job description

The Academic Worker in Manufacturing Engineering at Elanco will support the Engineering department by assisting in the digitalization of technical assets and standardization of engineering documentation. This role provides an introduction to the pharmaceutical engineering environment and involves regular interaction with various levels of the manufacturing and facilities organization. The position is temporary and offers flexible scheduling, focusing on operational excellence and efficiency. The individual will gain valuable experience while contributing to the improvement of engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Currently attending Missouri Western State University.
  • Successfully completed at least one year of study in Engineering, Drafting, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Support the digitalization and consolidation of engineering drawings within the Meridian platform.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for drawing management to establish consistent site-wide standards.
  • Manage and update Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), including redlining and executing drafting updates.

  • Assist with project coordination, scheduling, milestone tracking, and preparing presentations and reports.

Benefits

  • Employees at Elanco are often offered competitive compensation with annual bonus and equity eligibility, retirement plans (including a U.S. 401(k)), and comprehensive health coverage—medical, dental, vision, company-paid life and disability—and even pet insurance. Time-off and flexibility typically include generous PTO, U.S. mid-year and year-end paid shutdown weeks, parental leave, and flexible/remote work options. Employees also benefit from strong development programs (onboarding, course libraries, mentorship, nine ERGs, and tiered leadership programs) that support both professional growth and community involvement.
