Job description

The Staff Software Engineer for XR Graphics will be part of the XR Graphics team at Google, focusing on building graphics tools and render pipelines for the Android XR platform. This role requires deep expertise in graphics, GPU programming, and collaboration with application developers and hardware providers to optimize performance. The engineer will work on low-level graphics details and leverage their GPU expertise to enhance performance on iOS. The position is pivotal in shaping the future of XR technology by integrating AI with immersive experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, particularly in C++.
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience with graphics, 3D graphics, GPU programming, mobile GPU, or iOS GPU.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt, build, and launch first-party XR experiences for iPhones paired with next-generation wearables.
  • Develop and hyper-optimize the rendering backends for XR's 3D engine.
  • Refine and extend the programming model for Vulkan graphics rendering on mobile.
  • Develop low-level software for graphics, including shaders for distortion correction and rendering algorithms for VR.
  • Design, build, and launch cross-platform XR APIs and Software Development Kits (SDKs).
