Job description

The Data Center Mechanical Engineer role at Google focuses on the design, construction, and operational support of data centers. The engineer will work within the Data Center Engineering team, which is dedicated to advancing the physical design of data centers. This position involves managing mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with standards, and collaborating with various teams to optimize efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have experience in mission-critical facilities and a strong understanding of mechanical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
  • 5 years of experience with mechanical infrastructure systems such as HVAC and cooling systems.
  • 5 years of experience with data center operations and working with mechanical contractors.
  • 5 years of experience with electro/mechanical assembly and mechanical testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical support to data center services and operations teams.
  • Develop, implement, and manage mechanical designs at the site level.
  • Collaborate with the Engineer of Record to respond to site-specific engineering Requests for Information.
  • Work closely with the core engineering team to provide site-specific requirements during the development of the Basis of Design.
  • Own and manage site-level mechanical and cooling system issues during project execution.
