The role at Rivian focuses on leading the ideation, design, and execution of General Assembly equipment and technologies. This position emphasizes continuous improvement and collaboration with product design to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Located in Normal, IL, the role reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Manufacturing Engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role related to DFMA, product optimization, manufacturing process, or equipment development.
- Strong knowledge in manufacturing and industrial engineering principles, including OEE, cycle time analysis, and quality control.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using first principles.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working within 2D and 3D CAD environments and various engineering tools.
Responsibilities
- Define manufacturing technologies and strategies to maximize space utilization and efficiency.
- Collaborate with design teams to optimize the interaction between equipment and product.
- Take end-to-end ownership of equipment introduction, covering all milestones from RFQ to ramp.
- Support vendor selection and negotiations to optimize financial spending.
- Ensure effective handover of new equipment to operations and sustaining teams.
- Engage in value engineering to challenge assumptions and improve processes.
