The System Performance Engineer will join the Apple Service Engineering team to drive innovation and enhance the performance of Apple Intelligence products in the cloud. This role involves collaborating with architecture, platform design, and software teams to ensure exceptional end-to-end performance. The engineer will focus on the performance of Private Cloud Compute and will be responsible for developing automation and infrastructure tools. Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication are essential for success in this position.

• 10+ years of experience as a Performance Engineer
• Strong experience in data and AI-related fields such as software architecture or AI engineering
• In-depth professional experience with cloud operations
• Strong understanding of hardware components and hardware/software interaction
• Proven understanding of network technologies, protocols and procedures for iOS and macOS
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
• Previous experience in performance modeling and debugging of Transformer models, LLM inference and training
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one major data analytics platform

• Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, platform design, SOC architects, and software teams
• Ensure the performance of Private Cloud Compute running Apple Intelligence in the cloud
• Define the product and set its power and performance targets
• Develop automation and infrastructure tools to evaluate the performance of Apple Intelligence products
• Troubleshoot, debug, and reproduce issues effectively
