Job description

The Principal Software Engineer will lead the development and architecture of critical monitoring and alerting systems for Microsoft 365 Resilience efforts. This role focuses on transforming how critical paths are monitored and measured, ensuring reliability and performance across the M365 Core Platform. The M365 Foundation team is responsible for the reliability, resilience, and scalability of Microsoft 365 services. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with service teams and drive strategic investments in observability and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development and scaling to meet customer requirements and apply best practices.
  • Partner with stakeholders to determine user requirements within and across teams.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends and technical solutions.
  • Guide the team in identifying dependencies and developing design documents.
  • Act as an expert and Designated Responsible Individual to mitigate system degradation.
