Job description
Apple's R&D group is seeking a senior product design engineer to focus on the mechanical design of mechanisms and mechatronic systems. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to innovate and enhance the performance of highly integrated electro-mechanical systems. Candidates should be passionate and creative, ready to explore new concepts and push the boundaries of design. This position offers the opportunity to work from concept generation through to physical implementation and validation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanism and mechatronic product design
- Experience in selecting and integrating electronics, sensors, and mechanisms in challenging packaging environments
- Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills
- Experience in selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements
- Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple assignments at once
- Master's or PhD in mechanical engineering or a similar field
- Fluent in Siemens NX including surfacing tools
- Experience working through the entire product cycle including shipping product experience
- Experience leading teams through the product development cycle from concept development to production bring up
Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanical design including 3D and 2D drawings
- Design and integrate mechanisms
- Integrate electrical components such as sensors, electronics, wiring, and harnesses
- Prototype, evaluate, develop, and harden designs
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams
