Job description

The Systems Development Engineer at Fauna Robotics will manage the release lifecycle of software for robots, ensuring that it runs reliably on both customer and internal robots. This role emphasizes quality and automation, requiring the engineer to test software on physical robots and develop automated testing infrastructure. The team is dedicated to making robotics accessible and enjoyable, focusing on creating integrated hardware and software systems. Candidates will work on challenging problems that enhance the interaction between robots and humans in everyday environments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional systems engineering or systems development experience
  • Experience writing automated tests and building test infrastructure
  • Proficiency in Python or Bash for tooling and automation
  • Comfort working in Linux and with containerized software such as Docker
  • Experience testing software on physical hardware including robots and embedded devices
  • Experience building hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or integration test infrastructure
  • Experience with OTA update systems or fleet-staged rollout strategies for device software
  • Familiarity with ROS2 or other robotics middleware

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end release process including artifact cutting and integration testing on hardware
  • Manually test robot software on real robot hardware before releases ship
  • Partner with robotics engineers to define testable criteria for each subsystem
  • Design and implement automated test suites to replace manual testing
  • Operate and maintain existing CI/CD pipelines and OTA delivery infrastructure
  • Define and enforce release quality gates for software shipping
  • Build release tooling and dashboards for release notes generation and artifact versioning

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
