Job description

As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, ensuring their design, operation, and maintenance meet high standards. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to deliver innovative solutions that enhance capacity, availability, and sustainability. This role requires strong engineering judgment and the ability to manage multiple projects across various geographical regions. You will also engage in audits and support new construction projects, contributing to AWS's mission of maintaining a reliable cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Valid and active driver's license
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures
  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments while maintaining commitment to deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication abilities and experience working with customers
  • Experience using web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
  • Coursework in commercial/industrial power systems
  • Possess leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Possess data analytics skills and comfort with working in vast amounts of data

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for site and equipment failures.
  • Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews.
  • Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions.
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards for consistency and reliability.
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers.
  • Work on concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
  • Initiate and lead engineering audits, producing reports with risks and recommendations.
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction and commissioning.
