JobsWireless PHY Systems Engineer
Job description
Join Apple's Wireless SoC team as a Wireless PHY Systems Engineer, where you will contribute to the development of next-generation modem architectures and physical-layer algorithms. This role involves building end-to-end simulation frameworks for sophisticated wireless systems, impacting products like AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPhone. You will work at the intersection of wireless systems research, algorithm development, and silicon engineering. Your contributions will shape the architecture and performance of wireless chips used by millions worldwide.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Digital Communications, Signal Processing, or equivalent.
- Hands-on software programming skills for system modeling and simulation, with proficiency in MATLAB and C/C++.
- Experience collecting, processing, and visualizing large-scale field and simulation datasets.
- Familiarity with analog/RF impairments common in wireless systems.
- Experience with or knowledge of wireless standards such as Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband (UWB).
- Deep understanding in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Wireless Communications.
- Experience applying AI/ML methods to wireless systems problems.
- Proficiency with Python and data science/ML libraries for simulation automation.
- Experience with fixed-point design, RTL vector generation, and/or High-Level Synthesis (HLS).
- Experience in lab FPGA/silicon bring-up and PHY/RF/MAC testing.
Responsibilities
- Model, simulate, and analyze the performance of complex wireless systems across multiple protocol layers.
- Collaborate with PHY systems and algorithm engineers, analog and digital designers, and firmware/software engineers.
- Leverage AI-assisted simulation and data analysis techniques to improve development cycles.
- Invent, simulate, implement, verify, and test physical-layer features for new SoC designs.
- Shape the architecture and performance of next-generation wireless chips.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
