Job description

The Video Engineering group at Apple is seeking an embedded software engineer to develop software for image and video compression and processing. This role involves working on features for various applications such as the iPhone/iPad Camera and FaceTime. The engineer will focus on optimizing performance and power while collaborating with multiple teams. A strong emphasis is placed on teamwork and the ability to bring up new hardware platforms.

Requirements

  • BS degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming
  • Strong software design, problem-solving, and debugging skills
  • Experience in embedded real-time multitasking software systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of image or video processing technologies
  • Internship or direct related experience in embedded software development
  • Experience working with hardware technical reference manuals

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for image and video compression and processing
  • Implement features for applications such as Camera capture and AirPlay
  • Work on new video compression and processing feature development
  • Optimize performance and power for the video/image subsystem
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to develop software features and fix bugs
  • Prototype features for future products and improve software infrastructure
  • Write and enhance new testing tools
