Job description
This role involves collaborating with vendors to develop and evaluate new Fiber Optic assemblies for AWS global infrastructure. The team focuses on delivering high standards for safety and security while ensuring efficient network connectivity at hyperscale data centers. You will work alongside a diverse group of engineers and specialists to address complex challenges in network architecture. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working with fiber, connector, or other ICT components in a lab or product qualification setting
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with vendors to develop and evaluate new Fiber Optic assemblies and implementation plans.
- Define and update requirements for structured cabling systems for network layers at hyperscale data centers.
- Develop standards and installation guidelines for physical network and structured cabling deployments.
- Assist with troubleshooting problem areas in existing or new network architecture and propose impactful projects.
- Partner with fiber vendors and contractors to perform quality control and commissioning of fiber bundles.
- Perform mitigation analysis and site inspections to validate as-built conditions for compliance.
- Monitor network quality and build mechanisms to remediate large scale events.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber connectivity and design.
- Maintain documentation, drawings, and asset records for physical fiber network components.
