Job description
The role is for a highly motivated engineer to join the GPU Platform Architecture Team at Apple, focusing on the exploration of next generation GPU architectures for iPhone, iPad, and Mac products. This position involves close collaboration with various disciplines to deliver high-performance products. The engineer will work on defining and tuning Apple's future GPU Programmable Shader Core and will be integral to chip design efforts. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 20+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with GPU, CPU, DSP, or ISP architecture
- Software experience in C/C++, XSL, and a scripting language such as Python or Ruby
- Familiarity with simulation environments
- Ability to take ideas from concept to C/C++ simulator implementation
- Experience working as part of large cross-functional teams
- Self-motivated and well-organized
Responsibilities
- Work with architecture, design, and software partners on the definition and tuning of the GPU Programmable Shader Core.
- Extend and modify the architecture, including the instruction set for the Shader Core.
- Contribute to the development of prototype software implementations for simulated future hardware.
- Gather data and measurements to validate or invalidate architectural concepts.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver optimal solutions.
