Job description

The CNC Machining Engineer will join the Engineering team at the Seymour Machining Center in Seymour, IN, focusing on improving manufacturing processes and product quality. This role involves collaboration with various teams to optimize tooling and part selection while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will also participate in design and development activities, ensuring alignment with manufacturing goals. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the position includes weekend night shifts.

Requirements

  • A college, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Basic level of relevant work experience is required.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and applying dimensional metrology principles is necessary.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.
  • Commitment to health and safety excellence is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing machining processes that improve productivity and meet product specifications.
  • Work with engineering teams to identify necessary parts and tools, reducing setup times and optimizing changeovers.
  • Analyze product issues and recommend enhancements to improve quality and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct engineering design assessments and document findings, recommending design alterations to enhance quality and reliability.
  • Utilize lean and continuous improvement tools to increase equipment availability and capability across the plant.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and supplier teams to ensure seamless integration of machining processes.
  • Contribute to the adoption of innovative machining solutions that improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Provide training and guidance to AMA’s, interns/co-ops, or School-to-Work students to support skill development and team performance.
