Job description
As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer at Rivian, you will play a crucial role in the design and integration of assemblies within Power Electronics sub-systems. Your work will involve solid modeling design, including plastic injection moldings, die-castings, and sheet metal components. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that components meet performance requirements and are optimized for high-volume production. This position requires a passion for innovation and a commitment to sustainable design practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience using Catia V5 or V6.
- Experience in modeling die-casting, sheet metal stamping, and plastic injection molding for Electronic Packaging designs.
- Aptitude in prototype CNC machining, injection molding, die casting, sheet metal design, wiring harness design, and assembly.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical constraints for PCBAs.
- Experience in ENOVIA Product Lifecycle Management and BOM structure.
- Extensive experience using GD&T.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office apps and Google Workspace products.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Model solid components and assemblies in Power Electronics and Battery Enclosure packaging using CATIA V6.
- Design enclosures and mechanical assemblies for Power Electronics that meet thermal, environmental, and EMC requirements.
- Create 2D prints of all components applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Collaborate with Design Responsible Engineers to bring mechanical packaging concepts to high-volume production.
- Assist engineers with executing 3D packaging studies of various design concepts.
- Participate in production manufacturing DFMs with suppliers and DREs.
- Make necessary updates to existing 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Generate assembly illustrations using CATIA and other office tools.
