Job description

Rivian is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer II to join their Platform Integration team. This role focuses on integrating hardware and software components for autonomous driving systems across various vehicle platforms. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve integration issues and ensure vehicle functionality. The position requires a blend of technical debugging skills and the ability to identify complex system-level issues in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • B.S in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis and task automation
  • Working knowledge of C++ for reviewing other developers' code and deep-level debugging/root-cause analysis
  • Direct, hands-on experience with automotive ECUs and diagnostic protocols (UDS, CAN, Ethernet)
  • Proficiency with GIT and software repo management tools
  • Understanding of automotive hardware and software development concepts including CI/CD
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
  • Strong working knowledge of automotive electrical systems and communication protocols
  • Hands-on experience debugging complex systems involving multiple ECUs
  • Strong understanding of vehicle safety concepts and testing-related safety procedures
  • Flexibility to travel domestically/internationally to support vehicle-level integration and test activities
  • Clean driving record with professional experience driving prototype test-vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software components on various vehicle platforms
  • Identify, document, and highlight cross-functional gaps and dependencies
  • Proactively work towards creative solutions to resolve integration issues
  • Assist with prototype vehicle bring-up and configuration for new platforms and feature programs
  • Deep-dive into vehicle log data and source code to root-cause system-level issues
  • Contribute to diagnostic integration activities, including ECU connectivity and debugging
  • Support preliminary functional verification of Autonomy-related software releases
  • Prototype tools and solutions to accommodate rapid development and improve efficiency
  • Review vehicle data and correlate it with requirements
  • Contribute to integration processes, documentation, and best practices
  • Look for repetitive manual work and help automate it, leveraging AI-based tooling where practical
  • Develop a deep understanding of multiple integration areas and assume focused ownership over time
