Job description

The Apple Service Engineering (ASE) team is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Security team in building secure, scalable, and high-performance security systems. This role involves inspiring a world-class team of software engineers and ensuring that security is integrated into every aspect of the development process. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in distributed systems and cloud security. This position is critical for setting and executing the strategic vision for software security across all of Apple Services Engineering.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of software security engineering experience, with 10+ years in leadership roles
  • Proven ability to scale engineering teams and deliver high-impact projects
  • Strong background in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
  • Deep knowledge of secure development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and secure coding practices
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure as code
  • Deep knowledge of security frameworks and identity and access management
  • Experience with open source development

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of software engineers to build secure solutions for large scale services at Apple.
  • Set and execute the strategic vision for software security across all of Apple Services Engineering.
  • Ensure security is a fundamental consideration in the design, deployment, and infrastructure of systems.
  • Guide teams in integrating security and quality into the development process.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program managers and engineering partners.
  • Influence and drive key product innovations and opportunities across diverse stakeholders.
