As a Software Development Engineer III on the AMS Motion team, you will lead the technical direction for critical components of the autonomous navigation stack, focusing on motion planning and control software. You will be responsible for team-level architecture decisions and driving the evolution of production robotics systems. This role involves collaborating with a team of Applied Scientists and Software Development Engineers to deliver reliable autonomous navigation solutions. You will also have the opportunity to shape the future of autonomous robotics at scale using state-of-the-art technologies.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Expertise with C++ or TypeScript in production environments
- Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS or ROS2
- Experience implementing autonomous navigation systems or task planning from machine learning models
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and integrating ML models into production systems
- Experience with embedded systems or real-time software development
Responsibilities
- Design motion planning and task planning systems that generalize to new scenarios and environments
- Develop and improve motion planning algorithms
- Build and own training pipelines for machine learning-based motion planning
- Lead development metrics and analysis frameworks to diagnose motion planning and navigation issues
- Lead cross-functional alignment on software interfaces with various teams
- Set code quality standards and write exemplary code in C++, TypeScript, Python, and ROS/ROS2
- Mentor engineers through design reviews and code reviews
