Job description

This role is part of the Product Design FEA team, focusing on predictive engineering to enhance product designs through simulation. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanics, materials, and numerical methods to impact the development of various Apple products. You will collaborate closely with the product design team and engage with suppliers to explore new technologies. The goal is to validate simulation workflows and improve product performance through detailed analysis.

Requirements

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Material Science, or a similar discipline required.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in solid mechanics and constitutive modeling.
  • Experience in implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Expertise in polymer testing and modeling.
  • Proficiency with Abaqus, ANSYS, and META.
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Material Science, or a similar discipline is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design experiments to characterize materials and advance simulation workflows.
  • Validate mathematical descriptions at various scales for the FEA community.
  • Act as a communication channel with suppliers and vendors to explore new technologies.
  • Interpret system-level FEA results and compare them with instrumented tests.
  • Identify areas for improvement and drive innovation within the team.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
