Job description
The Director of Algorithms within Ads Engineering at Apple will lead a team of applied scientists and ML engineers to develop and scale advanced algorithms for advertising. This role focuses on creating systems for retrieval, ranking, auction, and budget optimization that enhance user experience while respecting privacy. The position requires a leader who values diverse perspectives and builds strong partnerships across the organization. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to solve complex algorithmic challenges that drive impactful advertising solutions.
Requirements
- 15+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning, Applied Science, or Software Engineering with a focus on performance advertising, search, or recommendation systems.
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing other managers and senior/staff-level contributors.
- Deep technical expertise in signals processing, candidate matching, predictive modeling, and ranking.
- Experience with modern techniques such as embeddings, transformer architectures, and reinforcement learning methods.
- Extensive experience in algorithm engineering and scaling high-throughput, low-latency ML systems in production environments.
- Exceptional communication and diplomatic skills to build consensus and navigate complex relationships.
- A demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.
- Strong alignment with Apple's core values regarding user privacy and premium user experiences.
- Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies or building ML systems under strict privacy constraints.
- Experience with Ads technology and domain.
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
