The Software Engineer role on Apple's Strategic Data Solutions team focuses on developing software for financial crimes regulatory compliance, including sanctions screening and anti-money laundering. The team collaborates closely with machine learning engineers to create scalable systems and tools that enhance compliance decision-making. This position requires a customer-focused and driven individual who is passionate about building analytic tools and solutions. The engineer will also work on process improvements and automation to enhance compliance analytics.

• BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
• Mastery of one of Python, Java, Scala, C++, or an equivalent language
• 4+ years of experience in software engineering or data science
• Experience building data science or analytics tools using modern cloud data lakehouses or distributed compute frameworks like Spark
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platform deployment
• Experience with relational databases and NoSQL databases
• Demonstrated understanding of the full software development lifecycle
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms
• Solid ability to evaluate and apply new technologies in a short time
• Self-motivated, proactive, and solution-oriented

• Develop and implement production software for sanctions screening and anti-money laundering compliance
• Design robust and scalable software architecture
• Work with external infrastructure teams to drive the development of infrastructure needs
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering team partners and business teams to craft engineering requirements
