As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, ensuring they meet customer needs while maintaining high standards for safety and security. You will collaborate with diverse teams, including software, hardware, and network engineers, to develop innovative solutions and improve data center operations. This role requires strong engineering judgment and the ability to manage projects across multiple geographical regions. You will also engage in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for site and equipment failures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 3+ cumulative years of experience with industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering, particularly in data centers or mission critical facilities
- Must have a valid US driver's license and reliable personal transportation by start date
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Experience as a resident engineer or hands-on design consultant
- Knowledge of both mechanical and electrical equipment related to data center operations
- Experience using various web-based and software tools for calculation and data processing
Responsibilities
- Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis for site and equipment failures.
- Support operational issues with ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews.
- Own the conceptual design for data center upgrades and design solutions.
- Interface with internal teams to promote standards for consistency and reliability.
- Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers.
- Initiate and lead engineering audits, producing reports with risks and recommended mitigations.
- Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction and commissioning.
