Job description

The Bridge Engineer role at Jacobs involves working within the Northwest Bridge Team, focusing on a variety of transportation projects across the Northwest and nationwide. This position requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to provide technical expertise in the design and construction of transportation structures. The role offers opportunities for professional growth in structural design, including mentoring junior engineers and coordinating design activities. The ideal candidate will contribute to innovative solutions for critical infrastructure challenges.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8-15 years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer in the design of transportation structures and/or bridges.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university or college.
  • Professional Engineer License, preferably in Idaho.
  • Experience with multiple structure types including precast and post-tensioned concrete girder bridges, steel girder bridges, bridge widenings, and bridge rehabilitations.
  • Strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of technical standards for bridge design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in completing transportation structure design and construction projects from conceptual and preliminary design to final design and construction.
  • Develop structural calculations, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Train, direct, and mentor junior engineers and CAD staff.
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors.
  • Assist in business development activities and proposal efforts.
