As a Principal Rack Scale Systems Infrastructure Engineer at NVIDIA, you will be responsible for building and guiding the development of software systems that support rack-scale infrastructure products and services. This role involves working at the intersection of software and hardware, focusing on control planes, orchestration systems, and networking fabrics. You will collaborate with various teams to translate infrastructure roadmaps into software requirements and ensure the reliability and security of systems. Your expertise will help mentor senior engineers and drive high-quality technical decisions in a dynamic environment.

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience of 15+ years in systems architecture, system software, distributed systems, infrastructure control planes, or infrastructure engineering.
• Solid architectural knowledge of coordination frameworks, state machines, and distributed systems tradeoffs.
• Practical coding skills in Go, C++, or Rust, with a strong emphasis on production-quality infrastructure software.
• Experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems for managing large-scale infrastructure services.
• Strong understanding of data center networking technologies and protocols, including Ethernet and InfiniBand.
• Expertise in in-band and out-of-band management architectures and related system management protocols.
• Experience crafting software intended for open source release, focusing on API stability and community usability.
• Established skill in specifying requirements and managing delivery across various engineering teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex hardware/software tradeoffs.

• Define the complete software architecture for rack-scale infrastructure products and services.
• Use Kubernetes and cloud-native primitives as an infrastructure fabric when appropriate.
• Bridge hardware and software teams across various domains including firmware and networking.
• Partner directly with hyperscalers, CSPs, and enterprise customers to align infrastructure capabilities.
• Establish reliability, security, validation, and left-shift strategies to reduce risk.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads to raise the engineering bar.
• Make high-quality technical decisions balancing customer needs and software maintainability.
