Job description

In this role, you will be part of the global controls team at Amazon Web Services, focusing on troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining building management and electrical power monitoring systems in data centers. You will work alongside experts in the data center industry to develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space. The position requires collaboration with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure optimal operation of critical systems. This role emphasizes the importance of technical support and project management in maintaining the efficiency of AWS data centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant controls experience, or 8+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environments.
  • 2+ years of general project or vendor management experience.
  • Experience designing, configuring, programming, and troubleshooting HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with common industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, and MODBUS.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Train and assist internal customers with the operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and support during the life cycle of the data center.
  • Review maintenance results for BMS and EPMS and resolve action items.
  • Develop project scope, schedule, budget, and level of effort for BMS and EPMS projects.
  • Manage the execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects.
  • Assist in procurement activities including vendor proposal reviews.
  • Participate in the global on-call schedule for BMS and EPMS support.
  • Attend project meetings and report status to stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning activities related to controls projects.
  • Review and troubleshoot controls sequences of operation.
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming and user interfaces.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate challenging situations.
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
  • Visit data centers to troubleshoot and supervise vendor work.
