Job description
The Signals Modeling team at Microsoft focuses on building advanced models to understand and predict user interactions with ads. This role involves designing and training transformer-based models that enhance ad ranking, pricing, and optimization. Engineers and scientists will work on large-scale data systems and sophisticated training pipelines to drive revenue and improve advertiser ROI. The position offers hands-on ownership in shaping next-generation architectures and deploying impactful models in a major advertising ecosystem.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience.
- Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience.
- Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience.
- 3+ years experience creating publications such as patents or peer-reviewed academic papers.
- Experience with large-scale online marketplaces or ads/recommendation systems.
- Solid programming skills in Python and at least one major ML framework.
Responsibilities
- Drive modeling and data innovations for ad interaction outcome prediction under partial and noisy feedback.
- Focus on building estimated conversion models and developing robust learning and calibration methods.
- Design and evaluate multi-task and proxy-signal models to improve measurement frameworks.
- Translate modeling advances into production-ready systems that impact ad ranking and user experience.
- Independently drive modeling projects from problem definition through production and iteration.
